As 2022 comes to a close and attention turns towards the year to come, one exciting announcement comes just in time – Mosaic’s principal consultant Alec Chapa has been selected for the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Fellowship! Fellows are granted the opportunity, network, and tools with which to support the section’s work of expanding members’ practices and resources to become more inclusive and robust.
Each fellow is assigned to a committee according to their interests and talents. Committees range on topics from mediation and ombuds, to collaborative law, employment and beyond. Alec with be working with another selected fellow in the Public Disputes and Consensus Building committee under the guidance of the committee’s experienced leadership. Throughout the course of the year, fellows will have the opportunity to dedicate themselves to a myriad of established projects including the ABA ADR podcast and newsletter, or pitch their own novel idea that can further the committee.
Alec is currently interested in writing original content on future possibilities for ADR’s evolution, as well as leading a software project to enhance pro se clients’ ability to independently resolve civil disputes using self-serve decision-making technology. Together fellows and the committees leadership will decide where to direct efforts. Fellows have the opportunity to extend the fellowship from a one-year to a two-year opportunity at the conclusion of 2023, giving fellows the opportunity to make more focused and novel contributions.
As the new year wraps up, we want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from all of us at Mosaic! 🥳
